Starks lifts Texas A&M into Big 12 Conference semis

Mar 7, 2007 - 8:55 PM OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- Takia Starks scored 16 points and No. 15 Texas A&M used a suffocating defensive performance en route to a 62-45 victory over Colorado in the semifinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament.

Starks made 7-of-17 shots and also down seven rebounds in 32 minutes.

The top defensive team in the conference during the regular season, the Aggies held the Buffaloes to 26 percent (12-of-46) shooting and forced 26 turnovers.

Patrice Reado and A'Quonesia added 13 points apiece for Texas A&M (24-5), which will face either Iowa State or Nebraska on Thursday.

Jackie McFarland scored 17 points to lead the Buffaloes (13-17), who were unable to overcome a 26-15 halftime deficit.
