Paris sisters help No. 11 Oklahoma advance in Big 12 tourney
Mar 8, 2007 - 3:14 AM OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- It was a family affair for Oklahoma.Courtney Paris had 17 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks and sister Ashley Paris added 16, nine and three as the 11th-ranked Sooners posted a 67-58 victory over Texas in the quarterfinal of the Big 12 tournament.
Courtney Paris connected on 7-of-15 shots from the floor en route to tying Sophia Young's conference record of 61 career double-doubles.
Ashley Paris shot 8-of-11 off the bench.
The Sooners led, 33-26, at the start of the second half and extended their advantage behind Courtney Paris, who netted 10 points during a 13-2 burst to make it 46-28 with 14:23 left.
Jenna Plumley scored 13 points and Leah Rush chipped in 10 for Oklahoma, which will face the winner between third-seeded Baylor and 11th-seeded Kansas in the semifinal.
Tiffany Jackson had 16 points and nine rebounds and Carla Cortijo scored 14 for the Longhorns, who shot a horrific 25 percent (18-of-72) and were outscored, 28-20, in the paint.
