January lights up from the arc as Arizona State advances
Mar 20, 2007 - 5:44 AM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Third-seeded Arizona State overcame an early hole for the second straight game to advance to the Greensboro Region semifinals with a 67-58 victory over No. 6 Louisville in a second-round contest.Briann January knocked down all four of her 3-point field goal attempts and scored a career-high 22 points as third-seeded Arizona State closed with a 31-8 run to overcome a 14-point second-half deficit.
January converted 8-of-12 shots overall and added four steals and four assists.
Emily Westerberg scored 12 points for the Sun Devils (30-4), who came back from a 15-point deficit to beat California-Riverside, 57-50, in the first round.
Arizona State on Saturday will play the winner of Tuesday's game between second-seeded Vanderbilt and seventh-seeded Bowling Green.
Jazz Covington had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinal (27-8), who led just 28-23 at the half despite the Sun Devils missing their first 15 shots.
