Griner vaults Baylor into Sweet 16
Mar 23, 2011 - 4:56 AM Waco, TX (Sports Network) - Brittney Griner scored 30 points to lead the top- seeded Baylor Bears past the ninth-seeded West Virginia Mountaineers, 82-68, in a second round NCAA Tournament matchup from the Ferrell Center.Odyssey Sims and Melissa Jones each scored 13 points for the Bears (33-2), who advanced to face Green Bay. Destiny Williams added 10 points and nine boards.
Liz Repella led West Virginia (24-10) with 29 points, while Vanessa House added 14 points.
Baylor knocked down 15-of-18 first half attempts from the charity stripe to take a commanding 43-32 lead into the break.
The second half saw the Bears cruise to victory behind 57.1 percent shooting from the field.
In all, Baylor outscored West Virginia 28-11 from the charity stripe.
