Griner, Baylor crush Kansas

Jan 13, 2013 - 10:10 PM Lawrence, KS (Sports Network) - Brittney Griner totaled 33 points and seven rebounds, as top-ranked Baylor dropped No.17 Kansas, 82-60, on Sunday.

Griner shot 14-of-24 from the field and also tallied three blocks and three assists in helping Baylor (14-1, 4-0 Big 12) to its 26th consecutive conference victory.

Odyssey Sims poured in 14 points while Brooklyn Pope tallied a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the Lady Bears' 12th win in a row.

Cece Harper notched a team-high 21 points off the bench for Kansas (11-4, 2-2), which has dropped back-to-back contests. Carolyn Davis scored 12 points to go with 10 rebounds and Angel Goodrich finished with 16 points and seven assists, but also had six turnovers in the setback.

Baylor dominated the contest from start to finish, leading the entire way. Griner, who tallied 22 points in the first half, completed three-point plays on the bookends of 13-0 Bears run to open up a 19-5 edge just over seven minutes in.

Later in the stanza, the Jayhawks pulled within 11 at 35-24 following the team's third 3-pointer in a two minute stretch. Charlicia Harper's layup at the 4:08 mark cut their deficit to 10, but Sims and Griner each poured in a pair of buckets to help Baylor to a 46-30 halftime lead.

Baylor then scored the first eight points of the second half to bring the margin to 54-30 to all but seal the victory. Kansas only came as close as 17 points the rest of the way.
