Washington upends No. 14 Texas A&M

Dec 7, 2006 - 6:43 AM SEATTLE (Ticker) -- It's not taking long for Texas A&M to feel the effects of losing its leading scorer.

Cameo Hicks scored 16 points as Washington defeated No. 14 Texas A&M, sending the Aggies to their second straight loss.

A&M lost Morenike Atunrase to a broken foot in Friday's 79-66 loss at Rice. She is expected to be out four to six weeks.

Danielle Gant filled in admirably for Atunrase, pacing the Aggies (6-2) with 24 points and 13 rebounds on 11-of-13 shooting.

But the game was decided at the free-throw line. The Huskies (4-4) converted 22-of-28 at the stripe, while the Aggies were a dismal 4-of-14.

Andrea Plouffe scored 13 points and made 9-of-10 foul shots for Washington, which led, 33-23, at halftime.

Takia Starks scored 17 points for Texas A&M, which made just 1-of-7 from 3-point range.
