Maybe minus Jarrett, Southern California visits Washington St

Sep 26, 2006 - 9:29 PM No. 3 Usc (3-0) at Washington St (3-1), 7:00 pm EDT

PULLMAN, Washington (Ticker) - Third-ranked Southern California may be without its most accomplished offensive player Saturday when it visits Washington State in a Pac-10 Conference matchup.

The Trojans could be missing All-American junior wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett, who suffered a shoulder sprain in their 20-3 triumph at Arizona last week. Jarrett was expected to be out two to four weeks but reportedly told coach Pete Carroll he would like to try to play.

Jarrett suffered the injury while catching his 32nd career touchdown, tying the Pac-10 record of Stanford's Ken Margerum.

The Trojans (3-0, 1-0 Pac-10) shut down the Wildcats last Saturday, limiting them to 154 total yards, including minus-16 on the ground.

USC has won a Pac-10-record 24 straight conference games and a school-record 17 consecutive road contests.

Washington State (3-1, 1-0) opened league play with a 36-10 rout of lowly Stanford in Palo Alto last week. Alex Brink passed for two touchdowns and ran for another score for the Cougars, who received a school-record five sacks from Mkristo Bruce.

USC is 53-8-4 all-time against Washington State, winning 30 of the last 34 meetings. The Trojans trounced the Cougars last year, 55-13.
