South Carolina State beats Delaware State 52-10

Oct 31, 2009 - 11:44 PM ORANGEBURG, S.C.(AP) -- Malcolm Long threw two touchdown passes and South Carolina State defeated Delaware State 52-10 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (7-1, 5-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) scored on its first five possessions, including two touchdowns from Long to Oliver Young.

Young caught a 24-yard throw from Long with 9:25 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead, and extended the lead to 31-7 on an 80-yard catch with 8:24 left in the second quarter.

Young finished with 135 yards on four catches and Terrance Smith had five receptions for 91 yards in South Carolina State's fourth straight win.

The Bulldogs finished with 513 yards and scored on all five of their red-zone chances.

Delaware State (2-6, 2-4) cut South Carolina State's lead to 21-7 in the first quarter when Larrone Moore scored on a 90-yard kick return, the fourth-longest kick return in school history.
