UCLA blanks Edwards, Stanford

Oct 1, 2006 - 5:49 AM PASADENA, California (Ticker) -- Trent Edwards and Stanford doubtless would like to forget this one.

Edwards threw three interceptions and was sacked six times as the Cardinal were blanked by Pac-10 Conference rival UCLA, 31-0.

Edwards completed just 12-of-23 passes for 117 yards for Stanford (0-5, 0-3 Pac-10), which has scored a total of just 19 points its last three games.

UCLA, which has not lost to Stanford here since 1996, took the lead for good when Eric McNeal returned a blocked punt 12 yards for a score 4:37 into the contest.

The score remained 7-0 before Chad Moline scored on a two-yard run with 2:45 left in the third quarter, and the Bruins pulled away with 17 fourth-quarter points.

Ben Olson went 20-of-37 for 219 yards with two interceptions for UCLA (3-1, 1-1), which needed overtime to beat Stanford last year.
