Virginia Tech looks to rebound at Boston College on Thursday
Oct 10, 2006 - 9:31 PM No. 22 Virginia Tech (4-1) at Boston College (4-1), 7:30 pm EDTCHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts (Ticker) - Virginia Tech hopes Frank Beamer's 300th game as a head coach goes better than his 299th.
The 22nd-ranked Hokies try to bounce back from a tough defeat when they visit Boston College in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Thursday night.
Beamer, who is 150-80-2 in 232 games with Virginia Tech after going 42-23-2 in 67 at Murray State, was disheartened by his team's 38-27 home setback to Georgia Tech on September 30.
"I told the team after the game that you're not quite as good as you think you are when you win and you're not as bad as you are when you lose," Beamer said. "I don't think we're a bad football team. But I do think we're a football team that has to do some things better."
Sean Glennon completed 27-of-53 passes for 339 yards and a touchdown for Virginia Tech (4-1, 2-1 ACC Coastal), which fell behind by 21-0 after just 11 minutes and never caught up.
Boston College (4-1, 1-1 Atlantic) also has been off since September 30, when it blanked Division I-AA Maine, 22-0.
Andre Callender and Brian Toal each ran for a touchdown for the Eagles, who were coming off a last-second 17-15 loss to North Carolina State.
The Eagles will be without kicker Ryan Ohliger, who was suspended indefinitely on Friday for a violation of team rules.
Virginia Tech is 9-3 against Boston College, including a 30-10 win in Blacksburg last year.
