LSU looks to take out frustration on Kentucky
Oct 10, 2006 - 11:05 PM Kentucky (3-3) at No. 14 LSU (4-2), 8:00 pm EDTBATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) - Suddenly out of the national championship race, No. 14 Louisiana State tries to stay in the Southeastern Conference title picture when it hosts Kentucky.
Having already lost to Auburn, the Tigers (4-2, 1-2 SEC West) came up short last week at Florida, 23-10, after committing five turnovers.
JaMarcus Russell had by far his worst game of the season, throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble at the Florida 1.
Still, the Tigers boast the nation's top defense, limiting opponents to just 209.17 total yards, and the country's third-ranked scoring defense at 10 points per game.
Kentucky (3-3, 1-2 East) lost to South Carolina at home last week, 24-17. Andre' Woodson threw for 289 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score but had a "Hail Mary" pass fall incomplete on the final play.
The teams have not met since "The Bluegrass Miracle" game in 2002, when Marcus Randall threw a 75-yard "Hail Mary" to Devery Henderson with no time left, lifting LSU to a 33-30 triumph in Lexington.
LSU has won three straight and five of seven in the series.
No one has shouted yet.
