Davidson hires LaFleur as offensive coordinator

Jan 21, 2013 - 4:07 PM Davidson, NC (Sports Network) - New Davidson College football coach Paul Nichols announced Mike LaFleur as the team's new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks and wide receivers coach on Monday.

LaFleur spent the last three seasons at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Ind., including the last two as offensive coordinator. He also was the Division II school's recruiting coordinator.

LaFleur was a quarterback at Elmhurst College and began his coaching career there after graduating in 2009. His brother, Matt LaFleur, is the quarterbacks coach for the Washington Redskins.

Nicholls also said Brett Hayford will continue to serve as Davidson's defensive line coach. Hayford, who will return for his 21st season as a Wildcats coach and his 24th year on the Davidson campus, served as the interim head coach for the final two games of the 2012 season.

Davidson split those two games during its 2-9 season. The Wildcats finished 2-6 in the Pioneer Football League.
