Arizona rolls past winless Stanford

Oct 15, 2006 - 2:15 AM PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Chris Henry and Chris Jennings had Arizona running on all cylinders.

Henry and Jennings combined to run for 180 yards and two touchdowns as Arizona rolled to a 20-7 Pac-10 Conference triumph over lowly Stanford.

It was the first victory in the last four games for the Wildcats (3-4, 1-3 Pac-10), who capitalized on Cardinal quarterback Trent Edwards' early injury.

Jennings opened the scoring with a 16-yard TD run just four minutes into the contest, and Henry reeled off an 18-yard scoring run to push Arizona's lead to 14-0 with 3:40 remaining in the first quarter.

The Wildcats defense cruised from that point on and clearly benefitted from the absence of Edwards, who suffered a foot injury on the Cardinal's first offensive series.

Arizona yielded just 52 yards of total offense and allowed just four first downs. Stanford's only points came on cornerback Wopamo Osaisai's 72-yard interception return for a score with 3:46 remaining in the first half.

Henry ran for 91 yards on 16 carries while Jennings chipped in 89 yards on 17 attempts. Adam Austin completed 6-of-9 attempts for 63 yards and an interception for the Wildcats, who controlled the ball for 38 minutes, 37 seconds.

T.C. Ostrander, Edwards' replacement at quarterback, completed 8-of-13 passes for 58 yards for Stanford (0-7, 0-4).
