Brown running back goes the distance twice
Nov 2, 2013 - 8:19 PM Smithfield, RI (Sports Network) - Brown University running back John Spooney put his sprint champion's speed to good use on Saturday.In a 27-0 blanking of Ivy League co-leader Penn, Spooney rushed for a 93-yard touchdown on the game's first play from scrimmage and then a 94-yard touchdown early in the second quarter.
Spooney finished with 232 yards on 16 carries.
The 5-foot-11 senior is a three-time 100-yard champion and a two-time 200-meter champion in Ivy League track and field.
Brown (5-2, 2-2) knocked the Quakers (4-3, 3-1) out of a first-place tie with Princeton.
