Texas WR Sweed to miss opener with wrist injury

Aug 16, 2007 - 11:28 PM DALLAS (Ticker) -- University of Texas wide receiver Limas Sweed will miss three weeks, including the season opener, with a sprained left wrist, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The 6-5, 219-pound Sweed suffered the injury in the first scrimmage of the season on Wednesday.

Sweed, who was named to the preseason All-Big 12 first team, will miss the September 1 game against Arkansas State. He will likely return for the Longhorns' game with Texas Christian on September 8.

A junior, Sweed was the favorite target of sophomore quarterback Colt McCoy and led the Longhorns with 46 catches for 801 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
