Bucknell extends Susan through 2019 season

Feb 3, 2015 - 1:47 AM Lewisburg, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - After Bucknell posted its highest win total since 1997 this past year, the Patriot League university has rewarded football coach Joe Susan with a three-year contract extension through the 2019 season.

Terms of the extension were not disclosed Monday.

This past season, Bucknell finished 8-3 to reach at least the eight-win mark for just the fifth time in program history, and it finished second in the Patriot League standings. Susan earned the league's coach of the year award and was a finalist for Eddie Robinson Award national honors.

"I consider it a privilege to work at this special place," said Susan, who has a 24-31 record in five seasons at Bucknell.

"Bucknell University offers student-athletes an opportunity to achieve in all areas of their lives. The effort at building a program takes the cooperation and support of many people. We work to challenge the young men in our program to be the best they can be. I am humbled and consider myself fortunate to be in a position to continue to build this program as we strive to achieve excellence in all that we do."

Bucknell is expected to return 16 regular starters next season.
