Challenging start to Carter era at Delaware State

Feb 12, 2015 - 9:36 PM Dover, DE (SportsNetwork.com) - Kenny Carter will begin his coaching tenure at Delaware State with two rugged road games, but the Hornets hope that will help prepare themselves for a run at the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title.

Delaware State announced an 11-game schedule on Thursday. The Carter era will begin with a trip to Big South Conference power Liberty on Sept. 5 followed by a contest at FBS member Kent State, from the Mid-American Conference, on Sept. 12.

The Hornets will host five opponents, beginning with Chowan in non-conference action on Sept. 19. Within the MEAC, they will face Morgan State (Oct. 3), South Carolina State (Oct. 24, Homecoming), Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 31) and Howard (Nov. 21) at Alumni Stadium.

Carter, who was named Delaware State's new coach on Jan. 21, served as the passing game and co-special teams coordinator as well as wide receivers coach at Youngstown State last season.

The Hornets were 5-7 overall and 3-5 in the MEAC last year.
