South Dakota's Glenn retires

Nov 23, 2015 - 11:32 PM (STATS) - South Dakota's Joe Glenn announced his retirement Monday after spending the last four seasons coaching his alma mater.

Glenn, 66, went 5-6 this season and 12-34 overall. The Coyotes upset four-time defending FCS national champion North Dakota State on Oct. 17 for their biggest victory and defeated Southern Illinois on Nov. 7 for Glenn's 200th career win.

He guided Montana to the 2001 FCS national title and Northern Colorado to Division II championships in 1996 and '97. He also coached Doane and Wyoming, finishing 200-134-1 over 28 seasons as a head coach.

"Thank you to the wonderful people, the students, the faculty and the staff here at USD, and the beautiful people of Vermillion, who I've loved since I came here in 1967, for being so kind and supportive of (wife) Michelle and I," Glenn said. "We plan to grow old, or older here in beautiful South Dakota and we won't miss a game. Go Yotes."
