Northwestern State to open at Baylor, host five

Feb 10, 2016 - 12:49 AM (STATS) - Northwestern State hopes its late-season momentum carries over into its 11-game 2016 schedule which was announced Tuesday.

The Demons finished 4-7 last season, but they won four of their final six games in the Southland Conference.

They will open next season at Baylor and will play five times at Turpin Stadium as part of coach Jay Thomas' fourth season in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

The Demons will host Incarnate Word (Sept. 10), McNeese State (Oct. 22, Homecoming), Nicholls (Oct. 29) and Sam Houston State (Nov. 12) as part of their nine-game Southland schedule and Kentucky Wesleyan (Oct. 8) in a non-conference game.

"It's a schedule that fans, players and coaches will enjoy," Thomas said. "We have some really good home games and really like the fact that the two best teams in our conference last year (McNeese and Sam Houston) come to Turpin Stadium."
