A&M recruit Alton Robinson accused of robbing ex-girlfriend

Feb 17, 2016 - 12:44 AM CONVERSE, Texas (AP) Alton Robinson, a defensive end who recently signed a national letter-of-intent to play for Texas A&M, has been arrested and charged with second-degree felony robbery.

A Bexar (BEAR) County Sheriff's Office statement says the 6-foot-2, 235-pound recruit was arrested Tuesday morning at school. His ex-girlfriend accused him of snatching her purse late Monday night outside her home, dropping it as he fled, then stealing her cellphone.

A&M football spokesman Alan Cannon says school officials ''will gather all of the facts and make a decision at that time.''

Robinson remained in custody without bond while awaiting an appearance before a magistrate. The sheriff's office had no record of an attorney.
