Oregon looks to hand Washington fifth straight defeat
Oct 31, 2006 - 9:23 PM Washington (4-5) at No. 24 Oregon (6-2), 3:30 pm ESTEUGENE, Oregon (Ticker) - No. 24 Oregon looks to avoid going 0-2 against its Pac-10 Conference opponents from the "Evergreen State" this season when it hosts Washington on Saturday.
Two weeks ago, the Ducks were stunned at Washington State, 34-23. Oregon (6-2, 3-2 Pac-10) responded with a 55-12 victory over Division I-AA Portland State last Saturday.
Jeremiah Johnson ran for three touchdowns after Jonathan Stewart went down with an abdominal strain and Jaison Williams had eight catches for 112 yards and a TD for the Ducks, who scored the final 34 points.
Washington (4-5, 2-4) has lost four consecutive contests, including a 26-23 overtime home setback to Arizona State last week.
Michael Braunstein converted a career-best 47-yard field goal to begin the extra session, but the Huskies allowed Rudy Carpenter to throw a 25-yard TD to Brent Miller.
It was the second straight week that the Huskies lost in overtime. On October 21, they fell at California, 31-24, despite a 40-yard "Hail Mary" on the final play of regulation.
Oregon has won the last two meetings, both here. Last year, the Ducks posted a 45-21 victory.
