Portland State football player arrested

Apr 21, 2016 - 3:45 PM (STATS) - The Portland State football program's difficult offseason was complicated Tuesday by the arrest of sophomore offensive lineman Troy Bacon after he allegedly impersonated a police officer last month.

The incident, which occurred on March 22 in Portland, led to Sherwood Police booking the 20-year-old Bacon, from Oak Hills, California, on a charge of criminal impersonation. Police say he pulled a woman over along Pacific Highway and claimed he was an off-duty officer from California.

Bacon, a transfer from Boise State who enrolled at Portland State this semester, has been suspended from the team indefinitely, the Sherwood Gazette reported.

The Big Sky Conference university is dealing with the deaths of two players this year, linebacker AJ Schlatter in January and left tackle Kyle Smith last month.
