Oklahoma dismisses freshman QB Robison
Aug 3, 2017 - 3:02 AM Oklahoma Sooners freshman quarterback Chris Robison was dismissed from the team following a violation of team rules, coach Lincoln Riley announced Wednesday night.Robison, rated a four-star recruit from Horn High School in Mesquite, Texas, by a number of outlets, completed 3 of 5 passes for 49 yards in the spring game in April, then was arrested for public intoxication hours later. The team did not disclose the exact reason for the dismissal, other than "violating team rules."
Robison was slated to compete for a backup role behind Heisman Trophy finalist Baker Mayfield, who starts his senior season when the Sooners open up against Texas-El Paso on Sept. 2.
There are currently three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, including Kyler Murray -- a transfer from Texas A&M and a former five-star prospect himself.
