SEC assessing Tennessee-Florida site due to Irma
Sep 11, 2017 - 7:12 PM The Southeastern Conference is discussing the effects of Hurricane Irma on the ability of No. 24 Florida to host No. 23 Tennessee on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla.The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
"Now that the storm has passed through Gainesville, the University of Florida is working with local authorities to assess the effect of the storm on the campus and the Gainesville community, at the same time ensuring the appropriate security and local officials are available to host a game," SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement.
Florida's home game last Saturday against Northern Colorado was canceled.
Florida and Tennessee have no common off dates, or weeks in which they each play nonconference opponents. If the game is unable to be played Saturday in Gainesville, one possibility mentioned in multiple reports is to play the game in Atlanta.
