Rutgers coordinator Kill suffers 'minor' seizure

Sep 11, 2017 - 8:47 PM Rutgers offensive coordinator Jerry Kill suffered a minor seizure Sunday and remained hospitalized, head coach Chris Ash said Monday.

"Coach Kill had a minor medical setback," Ash announced at his weekly press conference. "He is going to be fine. Saturday, early in the game after the first drive, he got tumbled up. He was really discombobulated in the first half from it and had some headaches Saturday night.

"It hasn't been confirmed or identified as the reason yet, but he had a minor seizure (Sunday) morning. But he is fine. He is still waiting to be released from the hospital. He will be back here this afternoon or tomorrow whenever he feels up to the task."

Ash said that Kill took a fall during Saturday's 16-13 loss to Eastern Michigan when a play reached the sideline and Rutgers quarterback Kyle Bolin took a late hit out of bounds.

Ash said Kill can coach this Saturday's game against Morgan State if his doctors allow it. He also added they may discuss the possibility of Kill calling plays from the coaches' booth instead of the sideline.

Kill, 56, was forced to retire from being the head coach at Minnesota in October 2015 because of his symptoms from epilepsy, including seizures. He returned to the sidelines with Rutgers after spending last season as an associate athletic director with Kansas State.

Rutgers hired him as offensive coordinator in December; in May, Kill said he had not experienced a seizure in more than a year.
