OC Kill returns to Rutgers after suffering seizure

Sep 12, 2017 - 7:58 PM Rutgers offensive coordinator Jerry Kill was back handling his duties on Tuesday, two days after suffering a seizure related to his battle with epilepsy.

Kill, 56, had the seizure Sunday morning and was hospitalized. He was released on Monday afternoon.

"As usual, he'll coach this week," Rutgers coach Chris Ash said on a conference call. "(He will) coach the game, and moving forward (there are) no concerns at all. It was a minor setback. So we're excited that Jerry is fine and back in the office, back with our football team."

Kill has a history of seizures and the situation led to his resignation as Minnesota coach during the 2015 season.

Sunday's seizure was reportedly his first since relinquishing his duties with the Golden Gophers.

Kill said he was dealing with headaches during Saturday's game. He also suffered a fall after being hit near the sidelines and it wasn't known if that played a factor.

"There's a possibility of a number of things, including the sideline (hit)," Ash said. "But that is not the definite thing that triggered anything. They don't know what happened. He hasn't had one in two years. He's been completely healthy. He was getting his sleep. He's been on a good diet.

"Obviously when you start to play games the stress level goes up. There's more nights with less sleep and that could contribute to it also. They just have to make sure he's consistent with his medication, and we don't really have any concerns moving forward right now."

Kill joined the Rutgers staff in December after being away from the sport for 14 months. He has a 52-45 record in eight seasons as a head coach, including 29-29 in 4 1/2 seasons at Minnesota.
