NFL QB prospect Josh Allen rebounds in 2nd game

Sep 15, 2017 - 10:00 PM LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen has been getting a lot of attention these days with speculation about him being among the top NFL quarterback prospects. But Allen says he doesn't pay any heed to any of that. "I'm going out on the field playing for my teammates," he said. "I've got their back, they got mine and we're going to continue to keep playing how we are." Nonetheless, Allen improved his future stock by completing 22 of 32 passes for 328 and two touchdowns in the Cowboys' 27-0 victory over FCS Gardner-Webb last weekend. He had no interceptions and was not sacked. The previous game against Iowa, Allen had no touchdowns and was picked off twice. A look at Allen's play in the last game: ___ HIGHLIGHTS: Allen set the tone early against Gardner-Webb, leading Wyoming to touchdowns on its first two possessions of the game. He completed 10 of 12 passes for 142 yards and a 27-yard TD in the first quarter for the Cowboys. He added a 29-yard TD strike in the second quarter and finished the half with 246 passing yards while completing 16 of 22 attempts. LOWLIGHTS: After a strong first half, Allen and the Cowboys offense didn't do much in the second half as they switched to running the ball more often to take time off the clock. Allen attempted just 10 passes in the second half, completing six for 82 yards. WHAT'S NEXT: Wyoming hosts Oregon on Saturday. This could be Allen's last chance to play against a top program.
