Michigan WR Black set to undergo foot surgery
Sep 18, 2017 - 5:42 PM Michigan freshman wide receiver Tarik Black will need surgery after suffering a cracked bone in his foot, coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday.Harbaugh said he did not know whether Black would be healthy enough to return later in the season.
"He's going to be out. He's going to need surgery. He's got a crack in his foot," Harbaugh said. "On the outside of his foot."
Black was carted off the field in Saturday's 29-13 win over Air Force. The injury came late in the fourth quarter after Black was tackled from behind on his final reception of the game.
The 6-foot-3, 206-pound Black started all three games this season for the eighth-ranked Wolverines (3-0). He is the team's leading receiver with 11 catches for 149 yards. Black would be eligible for a medical redshirt year since he has played only three games thus far.
Michigan starts Big Ten play this week on the road at Purdue on Saturday.
