Duke leaning toward Holmquist as kicker, punter for bowl
Dec 15, 2017 - 7:22 PM DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Duke coach David Cutcliffe says William Holmquist probably will take over as both kicker and punter in the Quick Lane Bowl following the dismissal of starter Austin Parker. Cutcliffe said Friday that Holmquist "has been outstanding" in pre-bowl practices. Holmquist joined the Blue Devils as a graduate transfer this summer after playing both positions at Tufts for three seasons. Holmquist made 21 of 31 field goals and 57 of 62 extra-points at Tufts, while also averaging 36.9 yards on 153 punts at Tufts. He made his only extra-point attempt with the Blue Devils. Parker was kicked off the team and suspended from school last week for a violation of academic policy. Duke (6-6) plays Northern Illinois (8-4) in Detroit on Dec. 26. ___ More AP college football: http://collegefootball.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP_Top25No one has shouted yet.
