Jackson guides Colorado past Iowa State

Nov 12, 2006 - 2:24 AM BOULDER, Colorado (Ticker) -- Colorado picked the right opponent for its final home game.

Bernard Jackson threw two touchdown passes and ran for another to power Colorado to a 33-16 rout of Big 12 Conference foe Iowa State.

In winning for just the second time in 11 games, the Buffaloes dismantled the Cyclones, who were playing just three days after 12th-year coach Dan McCarney resigned. He will finish the season.

Iowa State was without its No. 1 receiver and top two running backs and was powerless to stop Colorado, which scored on its first seven possessions and ran off 23 straight points to break away from a 7-7 first-quarter tie.

Mason Crosby kicked four field goals and barely missed a fifth from 65 yards out for Colorado (2-9, 2-5 Big 12 North).

Jackson completed 13-of-19 passes for 200 yards and rushed nine times for 76 yards, including a five-yard TD run in the second quarter that made it 17-7.

Bret Meyer hit Jon Davis with a 21-yard touchdown pass and Ryan Kock scored on a five-yard run for Iowa State (3-8, 0-7 North).
