Kentucky erupts in fourth quarter, beats Vanderbilt
Nov 11, 2006 - 11:02 PM LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Andre Woodson, Keenan Burton and Rafael Little showed that Kentucky was bowl worthy.Woodson threw for 450 yards and four touchdowns, including a pair to Burton, to lead Kentucky to a 38-26 victory over Vanderbilt in a Southeastern Conference contest in which the teams combined for 1,218 yards
The win officially clinched bowl eligibility for the Wildcats (6-4, 4-3 SEC East).
The loss officially knocked Vanderbilt (4-7, 1-6 East) out of bowl contention.
Little, who played for the first time in more than a month after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, rushed for 132 yards and a score on 20 carries and caught eight passes for 114 yards. Burton finished with 11 receptions for 171 yards.
Chris Nickson accounted for 517 of Vanderbilt's 621 yards. He passed for 446 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 71 yards and two scores.
Earl Bennett caught 11 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown and Marlon White had six receptions for 121 yards for the Commodores.
Nickson's six-yard touchdown run gave Vanderbilt a 20-17 lead with 57 seconds left in the third quarter.
But Kentucky erupted for three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Little gave the Wildcats the lead for good with a two-yard scoring run 1:44 into the quarter.
The Commodores reached the Kentucky 2 on the next series, but freshman E.J. Adams picked off a pass by Nickson and ran it back to midfield.
Four plays later, Woodson hit DeMoreo Ford with a 27-yard touchdown with 7:59 left in the fourth quarter.
Woodson connected with Burton on a 57-yard scoring play to increase the lead to 38-20 with 3:31 remaining.
Burton earlier caught a six-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
