Brinkley helps Syracuse end Big East skid
Nov 18, 2006 - 9:02 PM SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Syracuse will not go winless in the Big East Conference this season.Curtis Brinkley ran for a touchdown and added another receiving as Syracuse ended a 12-game conference losing streak with a 20-14 triumph over Connecticut.
With Brinkley leading the way, Syracuse (4-7, 1-5 Big East) snapped a five-game losing streak while severely damaging the bowl hopes of the Huskies.
Brinkley opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. His 18-yard TD reception in the third quarter gave the Orange a 17-7 advantage.
Delone Carter rushed for 115 yards for Syracuse, which closes the regular season next weekend at No. 7 Rutgers.
D.J. Hernandez threw for two touchdowns for the Huskies (4-6, 1-4), who must win their final two games to qualify for the postseason.
Huskies running back Donald Brown, who rushed for 199 and 205 yards the last two games, was limited to 67 on 18 carries.
