The long wait for college football is almost over. That means the road to the playoffs is wide open, but only a handful of teams have the talent, consistency, and coaching to make the playoffs. That means now is the best time to look into the future playoff bets for this season. Here are my top picks for teams to make the College Football Playoffs.

Nick Saban is still the best coach in college football and will put his team in the best position possible to win every game this year. Last season Alabama went 13-2, and Saban openly called the 2021/2022 season a rebuilding year. That means a lot going into this season because during the 2021/2022 season, Bryce Young won the Heisman, and Alabama made the National Championship game. Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are consistent every year. They will continue that consistency this year with Heisman trophy winner Bryce Young leading the charge.

There is no doubt that Ohio State always has an electric offense, and C.J. Stroud will elevate the team this year. Ohio State lost two wide receivers last season, but they still have Jason Smith-Njigba, who at times looked like the best receiver on the field. They also have running back TreVeyon Henderson, who will be one of the best running backs in college football. The offense has all the tools to be electric this season.

We can not forget about Clemson after they missed the playoffs last year. Last year they were in a rebuild and lost to Georgia 3-10 in the first game of the season, and then we never saw Clemson in the playoff chase again. They ended the season 10-3, and in the last six games, they started to look like the normal Clemson we have seen the last couple of years. DJ Uiagalelei made strides towards the second half of last season, and they have Cade Klubnik next in line if they need him. They also have Will Shipley back, who is the star of the offense. The defense for the Tigers is always solid. Clemson needs the offense to continue making strides in the right direction, but the Tigers have the pieces to make the playoffs.

Lincoln Riley is coming to town! USC might be the most overhyped school of these picks, but with their new head coach, and all the talent they received in the off-season, it is hard to count them out. Their entire team has a new look, and the PAC-12 gives the Trojans an easy schedule to make the playoffs. They will need to prove that they can beat Utah and Oregon, but Lincoln Riley and company have all the pieces they need to be in the playoffs this season.
