Wisconsin, Penn St, Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota accept bowl bids

Nov 21, 2006 - 11:46 PM MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Top-ranked Ohio State knows it will be playing in Glendale, Arizona on January 8. Now many of its rivals know where they will be playing their bowl games.

Big Ten Conference schools Wisconsin, Penn State, Purdue, Minnesota and Iowa all accepted bowl bids Tuesday.

Wisconsin (11-1), which finished tied for second with Michigan in the Big Ten behind the undefeated Buckeyes, accepted a bid to the Capital One Bowl against a Southeastern Conference opponent in Orlando, Florida on January 1.

Penn State (8-4) also will play an SEC opponent in the Sunshine State on New Year's Day. The Nittany Lions accepted a bid to play in the Outback Bowl in Tampa.

Purdue (8-4) will meet an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando on December 29. On the same day, Minnesota (6-6) will play a Big 12 Conference squad in the Insight Bowl in Tempe, Arizona.

Iowa (6-6) will face a Big 12 team in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on December 30.
