Georgia Tech prepares for ACC title game vs. Georgia
Nov 22, 2006 - 12:20 AM No. 16 Georgia Tech (9-2) at Georgia (7-4), 3:30 pm ESTATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) - Before turning its attention back to the Atlantic Coast Conference, No. 16 Georgia Tech visits intrastate rival Georgia on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets will face either Boston College, Wake Forest or Maryland in next weekend's ACC title game in Jacksonville, Florida. But first they must take on the Bulldogs, who have owned the series of late.
Georgia Tech (9-2) ended its league season with a 7-1 mark following a 49-21 rout of Duke last weekend. Reggie Ball threw three first-half touchdowns before resting and Tashard Choice ran for 100-plus yards for a fourth straight game in the romp.
The Bulldogs (7-4), meanwhile, had a bye after stunning Auburn on the road, 37-15, on November 11.
Senior safety Tra Battle tied a school record with three interceptions for Georgia, which had dropped four of its previous five games.
Georgia has won all five games in the series for the Governor's Cup under Mark Richt after dropping the previous three. Last year, the Bulldogs posted a 14-7 win in Atlanta.
