College Football Week 2 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Best Parlay Bets (2022)

Sep 8, 2022 - 1:28 PM

It was a busy Week 1 in college football, as there were great games all over the country, starting on Thursday night all the way through Sunday evening. Now, the attention turns to Week 2, as college football is forced to compete up against the NFL.

Let’s take a closer look at three games I’m keyed in on for the second week of action.

DraftKings British Open

Leg #1. UCF -5 (+160vs. Louisville

Losing the quarterback competition to eventual Heisman contender Matt Corral might have been the best thing to ever happen to UCF transfer John Rhys Plumlee, as he’s now in a much easier conference at a major program. And he showed out in Week 1. Albeit against FCS opponent South Carolina State, Plumlee had 400+ all-purpose yards to go along with five touchdowns.

For Louisville, things looked rough in a 31-7 loss to Syracuse, as quarterback Malik Cunningham looked awful throughout the game. In addition to having the edge in coach in head man Guz Malzoun, I like for the Knights to roll in this one on Friday night.

Leg #2. Houston ML (+120vs. Texas Tech

Speaking of coaching edges, I’m giving Houston a big one here as Dana Holgerson takes his high-powered Houston offense on the road to Texas Tech. First-year head coach Joey McGuire did what they were supposed to in Week 1, handling FCS opponent Murray State before turning their attention to this one.

For Houston, though they failed to cover (-3), they went on the road to beat a strong UTSA team 37-35 in overtime.

In this meeting between the two rivals who are just down the road from one another, I like for Houston to get their revenge for a come-behind victory last year they led at the half 21-7.

Leg #3. Notre Dame -20 (-110vs. Marshall

While Ohio State was the better and more talented team last weekend, what the final score doesn’t indicate is just how long the Fighting Irish hung around. Unlike last week, however, Notre Dame now draws a Marshal team that will allow their young quarterback (Tyler Buchner) to let the ball fly and I think we see that in the game plan out of the gates.

Not much can be drawn from a 55-3 win over Norfolk State last week for Marshall. Their rebuilt defense and offensive line will be tested here vs. the Irish. They’ll also have to now deal with their starting running back being gone for the season.

To me, all signs point towards a Notre Dame route in this one.
