College Football Week 2 Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions (2022)

Sep 10, 2022 - 10:57 AM

Last week’s parlay went down with a bang. While BYU comfortably hit their over in the first half, Appalachian State and Utah did not hold up their ends of the parlay, both losing in heartbreaking fashion. Chase Brice had a wide-open DaShaun Davis on a two-point conversion to take the lead with 31 seconds left and couldn’t connect. After struggling offensively early, Utah put together long drive after long drive in the second half but turned the ball over twice in the end zone to lose by three.

Alabama (-20.5) vs. Texas

It may seem daunting to lay this many points against a name brand like Texas. Alabama, however, has thrived in early season ties against out-of-conference, Power 5 foes. In the past 10 years, Alabama has had nine such of these matchups and covered eight of them, winning by an average of 28 points. Even though they play on the road this year, the result should be no different for a squad that returns the reigning Heisman trophy winner, the best player in college football in LB Will Anderson (nation’s best 34.5 TFL and 17.5 sacks in 2021) and garnered the #1 transfer class to add to their embarrassment of riches.

Tennessee (TT o36.5) vs Pittsburgh

West Virginia gashed Pittsburgh in the reinstatement of the Backyard Brawl, with CJ Donaldson averaging almost 18 yards a carry on his way to 125 yards while Tony Mathis chipped in for another 70 yards. Josh Heupel employs a balanced attack that operates at an extremely quick tempo (over 73 plays/game in 2021) and is headlined by QB Hendon Hooker’s elite decision-making (68% completion percentage, 31 TDs-3 INTs last season). Combining Tennessee’s tempo, Pittsburgh’s susceptibility to the run and Hooker’s playmaking should result in points aplenty for the Volunteers.

Wake Forest at Vanderbilt (o65.5)

After a strong Week 0 performance against Hawaii, Vanderbilt’s defense reverted to its 2021 form (118th in scoring defense, 113th passing yds/game allowed 106th rushing yds/game), allowing 31 points and nearly 500 yards of offense to Elon. This reversion comes at an inopportune time, as they are facing the fourth-highest scoring offense of 2021 (41 ppg) who returns QB Sam Hartman (39 passing TDs, 11 rushing TDS) in his first game back from injury.

For its part, Wake Forest should face similar defensive difficulties. Wake Forest was particularly poor against the rush, allowing nearly 4.9 yards a carry last season, and is going up against a team that has averaged over nine yards a carry and 400 rushing yards/game in its first two games thanks to QB Mike Wright’s electrifying speed and RB Re’Mahn Davis.
