College Football Bowl Game Prop Bets Picks & Predictions: Saturday (12/17)

Dec 15, 2022 - 8:21 PM

Following a relatively quiet two-game slate on Friday, the college football action picks up Saturday with six games beginning at 11:00 AM EST. This year more than ever, the transfer portal and NIL have made many of these games too close to call.

While many will be chasing the sides, let’s take a closer look at a few prop bets I’m on for Saturday’s action.

Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Louisville Cardinals

The Cinci Bearcats will look to 10 games for the fourth season in their last five, but they’ll have to do so without their head ball coach as Luke Fickell has already departed for Wisconsin. Louisville is in the same boat, as Scott Satterfield has also changed jobs, ironically heading to Cinci.

Louisville will also be without starting quarterback Malik Cunningham who has opted out to prep for the NFL Draft. With the Bearcats having their guy in Evan Prater ready to go for this one, I like for two teams with nothing to lose to let the ball fly in this one. Running back Ryan Montgomery should also play a key role.

Currently sitting at just 19.5, I like the Bearcats to go over their team total before all is said and done.

Bet: Cincinnati Team Total – Over 19.5 (-120)

Florida Gators vs. Oregon State Beavers

This should be one of the more interesting matchups on Saturday, as Florida is going with sophomore Jack Miller III at QB in what will be his first college start. The decision was forced following the departure of Anthony Richardson to NFL draft prep and the dismissal of Jalen Kitna from the team.

The former Ohio State product will have his hands full against a Beavers defense ht ranks top 35 in the country in a hose of defensive categories. While the Beavers will also be playing with a backup QB, their running back, Damien Martinez, is this unit’s workhorse.

Having already secured the PAC-12 co-freshman of the year award, Martinez comes into this game with six straight 100+ yard running games. The #14 Beavers also have the edge in the coaching box, as head-man Jonathan Smith comes into this one as the PAC-12’s co-coach of the year and fresh off a brand new contract extension worth $30.6 million.

Look for a hot start from the Beavers and for them to relatively coast to a win in the second half.

Bet: Oregon State: Team Total Points – 2nd Half – OVER 15.5 (-120)
