Welcome, By-Godders, to The Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU’s best place for sports links, information, sophomoric humor and daily distractions.

The West Virginia baseball team went on the road and annihilated Appalachian State in back-to-back games this week.

WVU dominated the first game, 18-1, on Tuesday. Sophomore infielder JJ Wetherholt led WVU by going five-for-six at the plate for two doubles, six RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Freshman infielder Ellis Garcia added three hits and four RBI.

In the second game on Wednesday afternoon, WVU scored 18 runs again in another big win. Garcia had two runs scored, two RBI, and four hits, including the home run of his college career.

WVU returns to action this weekend at UNC Greensboro. All three games against the Spartans will be streamed on ESPN+.
