Vixens beat Thunderbirds

Apr 10, 2016 - 5:54 AM Adelaide Thunderbirds' shooter Cody Lange has been seriously injured in a 44-59 trans-Tasman netball loss to Melbourne Vixens in Adelaide.

Minutes after replacing Erin Bell as goal attack in the second quarter of Sunday's game, Lange slipped, screaming as she hit the ground with a suspected ACL injury.

The Vixens dominated the contest, leading 34-20 at half-time.

Goal attack Alice Teague-Neeld helped set up the win early as the Thunderbirds repeatedly threw the ball away.

"We came into this game knowing we had to work, just really put in the ground work and work hard, hard, hard," Vixens' coach Simone McKinnis told AAP.

"That intensity and concentration and that hard work wasn't there last week (in the Vixens' 42-57 loss to the NSW Swifts) and we knew that was what we had to bring."

Thunderbirds coach Michelle Den Dekker was disappointed with her side's inconsistency, which only saw them get the better (16-11) during the third quarter.

"There were glimmers of really good stuff and I thought there was a good fightback in the third quarter, she said.

"We just needed to put four quarters of that netball out there.

"We are a young team, we're rebuilding."

Lange, whose season in now is doubt, was the Thunderbirds' best shooter against the West Coast Fever in Perth last Saturday, which thrashed Adelaide 63-44.

"She's not good ... It looked pretty serious. We hope it's not for Cody's sake," Dekker said.
