Dvoracek to have knee scoped

Aug 26, 2009 - 9:33 PM LAKE FOREST, Ill.(AP) -- Chicago Bears defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek will undergo arthroscopic surgery this week on his right knee.

The team reported on its Web site Wednesday that the procedure will be performed Friday, and coach Lovie Smith was hopeful the injury wasn't too severe.

The oft-injured Dvoracek sprained his right medial collateral ligament in Saturday night's 17-3 preseason victory over the Giants. Several Chicago media outlets reported that Dvoracek tore the anterior cruciate ligament, but Smith said that day the team knew only about the sprain.

Dvoracek has played in 13 games in three seasons, each one ending with him on injured reserve. His contract expires following this season, and the final roster cutdown to 53 players is Sept. 5.
