Report: Bears acquire S Archuleta from Redskins

Mar 21, 2007 - 1:49 AM CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Apparently Adam Archuleta is headed to the Chicago Bears.

According to a report Tuesday on the Chicago Tribune's website, the Washington Redskins have agreed to trade the safety to the Chicago Bears for a conditional sixth-round pick.

Archuleta restructured his contract to join the Bears, the website reported. He now will be paid $8.1 million over the next three seasons, including a $5 million bonus that he will receive on Wednesday.

Archuleta, 29, started seven games and recorded 50 tackles - 39 solo - and one sack this past season. He spent his first five years in St. Louis before inking a seven-year, $35 million deal as an unrestricted free agent last March with Washington.
