Texans stun Broncos with touchdown in final minute

Aug 24, 2014 - 4:19 AM Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Tom Savage's 31-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Griffin in the closing minute gave the Houston Texans an 18-17 win over the Denver Broncos in preseason action.

Houston trailed by a touchdown with time winding down in the fourth quarter when Savage led the game-winning drive. On 4th-and-3 at their own 46, Savage completed a 15-yard pass to Travis Labhart. Two plays later, Savage found Griffin for the touchdown, then converted a two-point conversion with a pass to Labhart.

Ryan Fitzpatrick went 10-for-17 for 80 yards and Jonathan Grimes scored a rushing touchdown in the win.

Emmanuel Sanders caught five passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns in the setback, while Peyton Manning threw for 243 yards on 21-of-27 passing with two scores and an interception. Wes Welker caught four passes for 42 yards before he was evaluated for a concussion following a hard hit from D.J. Swearinger.

Matt Prater kicked a 32-yard field goal to open the scoring in the first quarter. Grimes plunged in from a yard out early in the second, then Manning found Sanders for a 67-yard touchdown and a 29-yard score to help the Broncos to a 17-7 lead at the half. Randy Bullock knocked down a 24-yard field goal in the third to make it a one-possession game.
