Report: Jets QB Pennington may miss Ravens game

Sep 12, 2007 - 4:44 PM NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington is telling people close to him that he doesn't think he's going to play on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, according to a report Wednesday in the Newark Star-Ledger.

Pennington suffered what is believed to be a severely bruised ankle when he was sacked by defensive end Jarvis Green in the third quarter of last Sunday's 38-14 loss to the New England Patriots.

Pennington returned to the game for one series but had a pronounced limp. After leading the Jets to a touchdown, Pennington removed himself from the contest.

If Pennington is unable to play, he would be replaced by second-year quarterback Kellen Clemens, who would be making his first career start.

Clemens was impressive in the preseason, moving up to No. 2 on the depth chart after going 30-of-41 for 364 yards and four touchdowns.
