Colts release DE Rice

Nov 28, 2007 - 7:56 AM INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Indianapolis Colts released defensive end Simeon Rice on Tuesday.

Rice, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, had one sack in two games as a reserve after signing with the Colts on November 13 - four days after he was released by the Denver Broncos.

The 12-year veteran, who signed a one-year deal worth $3 million on September 3, made 11 tackles but did not record a sack in six games - one start - with the Broncos this season.

Rice has notched 121 career sacks, which ranks second among active players behind Michael Strahan, in his 11 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In a corresponding move, Indianapolis signed fullback Luke Lawton to the active roster. Lawton has rushed for 13 yards on five carries in six games for the Colts this season before being released on October 22.
