Mayowa set to join Cowboys, Raiders don't match offer sheet
Mar 22, 2016 - 11:10 PM IRVING, Texas (AP) Defensive end Benson Mayowa is set to join the Dallas Cowboys after the Raiders decided not to match an offer sheet for the restricted free agent. The Cowboys last week signed Mayowa to a three-year deal worth more than $8 million, a deal Oakland could have matched to keep him.
Mayowa will add to a thin defensive line in Dallas. The Cowboys are unlikely to bring back free agent Greg Hardy and will be without Randy Gregory for the first four games next season because of his suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
After two games with Seattle as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Idaho in 2013, the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Mayowa had 22 tackles and two sacks in 28 games for the Raiders the past two seasons.
