NFL: Gotsis on search, destroy mission
Oct 19, 2016 - 3:18 AM Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler had better keep an eye out for the Denver Broncos' rampaging Australian rookie Adam Gotsis. The 193cm defensive end Gotsis, who weighs 131kg, has played in all six of the Broncos' games this NFL season but is yet to record a sack.
He is desperate to get his giant-sized 27.3cm hands on Osweiler and take him down when the reigning Super Bowl champion Broncos host the Texans on Monday (Tuesday AEDT)
"Bad," Gotsis, when asked how keen he was to record his first NFL sack, told AAP.
"Really bad."
The Broncos started the season with four straight wins, but lost the last two games and are under pressure to get their season back on track.
Adding extra intrigue to the match-up, Osweiler was the Broncos' quarterback last season before fleeing to the Texans on a four-year, $US72 million ($A94 million) deal.
Melbourne-born Gotsis, who played four years at Georgia Tech, has been on the field for the Broncos for 51 snaps and recorded just three assisted tackles.
"When it happens it happens," Gotsis said of his desire to sack a quarterback.
"You have to just keep working hard every play and keep hustling.
"Good things happen when you do that."
The 24-year-old who gained his first taste of American football by playing the Madden NFL video game is living a dream lining up alongside the Broncos' four Pro Bowl defensive stars DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller, Aqib Talib and Chris Harris Jr.
He said the Broncos' are focused on breaking their two-game losing streak against the Texans, who also have 4-2 record.
"I can see know reason why we won't bounce back," Gotsis said.
"That's what great teams do and this team is a great team."
