Jaguars' Hawkins arrested for DUI

Jan 15, 2008 - 10:57 PM JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Brent Hawkins was arrested on a drunken driving charge early Monday morning, the Times Union reported.

According to the newspaper, Hawkins was pulled over after speeding past a patrol car on the Intracoastal Waterway.

The Times Union reported the second-year player was arrested at 2:30 a.m. after failing sobriety tests. The arrest came two days after the Jaguars' season ended in a 31-20 playoff loss to the New England Patriots.

According to the police report, Hawkins' license was confiscated after he refused a breath test.

Hawkins, 24, told officers he had three mixed drinks and said he had a previous driving under the influence case in Illinois, where he attended Illinois State University. He was drafted by the Jaguars in 2006 in the fifth round.

Hawkins was released Monday on a $2,000 cash bail.
