Dolphins may use Cutler in preseason game vs. Ravens

Aug 15, 2017 - 12:54 AM The Miami Dolphins may be ready to showcase quarterback Jay Cutler in their next preseason game.

"I'm trending in the area of yes, but we'll see what happens the next few days," coach Adam Gase said Monday when asked if the recently unretired Cutler would be set to play in Thursday's preseason game against the visiting Baltimore Ravens.

"He's pretty much got the offense down, it's just more about timing. It's more mental, just kind of that feel of when to turn the ball loose, getting used to the receivers, the D-line rushing. It's happening fast, so it's probably going to be good for him at the end of the day when we start playing some other teams."

Signed to a reported one-year, $10 million contract plus incentives, the 34-year-old Cutler was talked out of retirement by Gase shortly after Ryan Tannehill sustained a left knee injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

Gase served as Cutler's offensive coordinator with the Chicago Bears in 2015. Cutler had 21 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a career-best 92.3 passer rating in his only season under his now head coach.
