Bengals rookie WR Ross participates in first practice

Aug 15, 2017 - 12:31 AM Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver John Ross was a full participant in practice Monday for the first time since being selected with the ninth overall pick of the 2017 draft.

Ross has been recovering from offseason labrum surgery for an injured shoulder and hasn't been able to participate in any contract drills until Monday, when he took part in 11-on-11 drills.

The 21-year-old showed his speed during the NFL combine, registering a record for the fastest 40-yard dash time. His 4.22 time topped the previous best of 4.24, set by now-Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson.

As for what's in store for Ross, he did his best to speed by the issue on Monday.

"That's a question for the trainers," he said. "I just want to take everything slowly, I don't want to rush everything. I don't think it's imperative for me to come back right now and play Saturday (against the Kansas City Chiefs). I think it's important for me to be ready for Week 1."

In 2016 at the University of Washington, Ross had 81 catches for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns
